The PBUA follows standard umpire uniform practices, with the following specifics:
PBUA hat (order through Craig Gruber)
MLB V2 Replica shirt - black with grey panels on the sides**
Charcoal grey pants
**Umpires may choose to wear other shirts but must match and may NOT contain logos of another association. MLB V2 replica shirts (blue, black or grey with panels) are a popular choice for many umpires.
**Umpires are expected to contact their full crew 24 hours before gametime via text or phone call, during which, they will determine the shirt choice for that game. Plate umpire has final say.
All umpires should have their own plate gear, which can be purchased on the websites above.

All shirts should be tucked in, and free of any fades or excessive dirt.
PBUA hats should also be free of any fades or excessive dirt.
Plate umpires must have plate shoes.
All shoes should be clean, and primarily black. A small portion of white is OK.
For liability reasons, PBUA hats should NOT be worn when working for other associations, and vice versa.
Guidance on long sleeves:
Long sleeves are acceptable, and are at the discretion of each umpire. Long sleeve umpire shirts should only be worn when working the plate. Base umpires preferring long sleeves should wear a jacket or windbreaker. When working in three-umpire crews, both base umpires should match. It is highly recommended for base umpires to wear a jacket or windbreaker anytime the plate umpire wears long sleeves.
